Land & perimeter calculator

Enter your paddock's four side lengths to estimate fence length and area.

Measure the top, right, bottom, and left sides of your paddock — by tape, GPS, or estimate — and this tool totals them into a fence perimeter and an approximate area. Works for rectangles and unevenly-shaped four-sided plots alike.

Tips

  • Walk or measure each of the four sides separately — this tool doesn't assume a perfect rectangle, so uneven paddocks still get an accurate perimeter.
  • Switching length unit reinterprets your entered numbers in the new unit, it doesn't convert them — re-enter values after switching.
  • Area shown is an approximation using the average of opposite sides; for an exact rectangle, use equal top/bottom and equal left/right values.
  • Once you have a perimeter, jump to the wire calculator to work out rolls needed, or to Quick Order for a full matched system.

Frequently asked questions

What if my paddock isn't a perfect rectangle?+

Enter each side's actual length — the tool still totals them correctly for the perimeter, and estimates area using the average of the opposite side pairs.

Does switching the length unit convert my numbers automatically?+

No — changing the unit (Metres, Feet, Depa, Chain) reinterprets whatever you've typed in the new unit rather than converting it. Re-enter your measurements after switching units.

Which tool should I use — this or the Fence Designer?+

Use this when you already have (or can measure) the four side lengths. Use the Fence Designer if you'd rather sketch the paddock shape and let the grid do the measuring.
